Consim Info, formerly known as the Bharatmatrimony Group, on Tuesday announced that it has closed $11.75 million in second round funding, led by a consortium comprising US-based Mayfield Fund and first round investors Yahoo and Canaan Partners.

Consim Info founder and CEO Murugavel Janakiraman said that the additional funding would help the company further expand its online matrimony business in the international markets and strengthen its other classified offerings.

"The global knowledge and experience of our investors will help us scale our business strategically," Janakiraman said.

The company, which has over 15 million registered users across its matrimonial, real estate and job portals, is planning to take its online matrimony business to the international market with the launch of country-specific and religion-based matrimony sites.

The new round of funding will also help it set up operations in the US, UK and other countries, besides promoting its other verticals.

Consim Info had in 2006 raised seed funding of $8.65 million from Yahoo and Canaan Partners. Following the second round of funding, Nikhil Khattau of Mayfield Funds will join Consim Info's board of directors, with Navin Chaddha becoming observer on the board.

Khattau said that Consim Info has achieved tremendous growth in the matrimony and classified businesses.

"With strong growth ahead in the online classifieds market, Consim is positioned for leadership in this field," he said.
