Consumer durable firms eye rural market

With the approaching summer season, consumer durable companies have intensified their marketing campaigns, especially in rural areas, to woo customers with the latest offerings.

LG India has plans to operate mobile vans across the various grain markets in Punjab to showcase its products.

National Product Group head - Direct Cool Refrigerator Manish Raj said the company was working on a pilot project under which mobile vans called 'Extended Dealers on Wheels' displaying LG products would be sent across the major grain markets in Punjab. Sub-dealers would be identified across the state and they would be operating the 'Extended Dealers on Wheels' to exhibit LG products.

 

The 'refrigerator' penetration in rural market, which is 5 per cent, is expected to treble by 2015.

Godrej appliance is organising 'rural melas' for the rural consumers. Godrej Appliances General manger-North Ramandeep Singh Trehan said Godrej intended to organise 6-7 rural melasto tap the rural markets.
