Coromandel commissions its third plant

Company says plant will strengthen its position in phosphate fertilizer segment

Coromandel International Limited (CIL), a manufacturer of fertilisers, crop protection and specialty nutrient products, has commissioned its third complex fertiliser plant at Kakinada  in Andhra Pradesh.

“The plant has undergone commissioning activity on March 23 and we have started production,” CIL managing director, Kapil Mehan, stated in a release.

According to Mehan, the new plant is capable of manufacturing all grades of complex fertilisers and would strengthen its position in the phosphate fertiliser segment.

A company spokesperson said the plant, with a capacity of 425,000 tonnes per annum, was set up at a cost of Rs 350 crore.

CIL, a part of Chennai-based Murugappa group, reported a turnover of Rs 9,823 crore during  2011-12.
