Fertilisers manufacturer Coromandel International today said it had signed an agreement with Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO) for supply of urea.
"This agreement paves the way for a long-term association with a very reputed international urea manufacturer. This will be particularly important when urea is decanalised," Coromandel International Chairman A Vellayan said in a release here.
Coromandel International also manufactures a wide range of crop protection and specialty nutrient products.
"India is one of the strategic markets for us and this agreement with Coromandel will pave way for strengthening of QAFCO's presence in the Indian market," the Qatari firm's Chief Executive Officer, Khalifa Al Sowaidi, said.
QAFCO is one of the largest producers of urea and ammonia, producing around three million tonne of prilled or granular urea.
After its current round of expansion, QAFCO will become the largest single-site producer of ammonia and urea in the world. The firm will have ammonia output capacity of 3.8 million tonne and urea capacity of 5.6 million tonne.
