VSNL first-quarter bottomline dips 28%
Mumbai: Decline in ILD tariff, pressure on interconnect charges and lower other income has resulted in net profit of Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) declining by 28.53 per cent at Rs 261.2 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2002 as compared with Rs 365.5 crore in the same quarter of previous year. The total income declined 13 per cent at Rs 1428.5 crore as against Rs 1642.1 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2001. VSNL, the international telecommunications service provider, revenues were affected with 86 per cent decline in revenues from international telephony at Rs 1187.6 crore in the first quarter of this fiscal as against Rs 1346.6 crore.
