Cotton export have suffered a serious jolt this season by falling 95% in last one a half months time. The exports from October 1, 2008 to November 15, 2008 has been a trivial quantity of 75,000 bales as against 20,00,000 bales during the corresponding period last year.

Given the current crisis situation and the fear that it will continue, trade sources said that it would be difficult to export even 10% of the last year’s volume.

This would also result in heavy loss of foreign exchange to the country.
