Crompton Greaves launches transformer plant in Saudi Arabia

Has received a 5-year framework contract for sub-station services

A joint venture of Crompton Greaves and Saudi Transformer Company has set up a power transformer factory in Dammam. This is Crompton Greaves's first transformer plant in Saudi Arabia and has received a five-year framework contract for sub-station services.

The first orders are for one mobile sub-station and six 25 MVA power transformers. The products will be delivered to Saudi Electricity Company, the company announced today.

"Saudi Arabia is the largest market in the Middle East with a $4 billion T&D market. CG is the first company to establish a Power Transformer plant and commence mobile substation activities in Saudi Arabia, '' the company said today.  

Laurent Demortier, CEO of  Crompton Greaves said  “Saudi Arabia is a strategic market for us.  We do believe that the localization of our activity in Saudi will bring a high level of responsiveness and understanding of the specific needs of our Saudi customers and will pave the way for a strong long-term relationship.”
