Customer fatigue in terms of car models is quick and they constantly look for new models or features, a top Maruti Suzuki official said here today.
Nearly 50 percent of Indian customers look at changing their car once in five years. They look for new models, some changes or features. "They are discerning and want more for less," Maruti Suzuki Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Mayank Pareek said during the launch of the all-new Wagon R here today.
Even in terms of colour, white used to sell more earlier, but now customers were experimenting with yellows, blues, green and reds, he said.
He claimed the new powerful Wagon R is very fuel efficient, returning 18.9 kmpl. It comes with a new transmission with cable-type gear shift and superior suspension technology. The car's overall length has increased to 3,595 mm with a wheelbase of 2,400 mm.
In Karnataka, penetration was high, with overall sales standing at 61,000 of the national total of 1,11,000, he said.
On delivery schedules for diesel variants of the Swift and Dzire, he said demand had been "overwhelming" and there is a backlog, with a waiting period of three to four months, despite tripling of production capacity. For the company's Eeco van, it was around six months, he said.
