Commercial vehicle (CV) sales shot up by 18.69 per cent in August 2002, at 15,287 vehicles against 12,879 in the corresponding period of the previous year, mainly driven by sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales grew 21.68 per cent to 8,803 vehicles in August 2002 from 7,234 vehicles in August 2001, according to data provided by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) here on Friday. Light commercial vehicle sales increased to 6,484 vehicles from 5,645 units in August 2001. Among passenger carriers (medium and heavy commercial vehicles), Ashok Leyland showed a substantial growth, with sales of 858 vehicles from 660 vehicles sold in August 2001. Tata Engineering
