Cyber Park attracting Hollywood's interest

Pune-based Montura VFX, which has partnered Hollywood blockbusters like the Harry Potter series, Spiderman, Transformers, has opened production unit at Cyberpark

The Kerala government's Cyberpark at Kozhikode is set to become a major post production hub for Hollywood movies, with a leading visual effects firm opening its production centre here.

More companies with similar ventures are expected to commence operation here when the facility becomes operational next year.

Pune-based Montura VFX, which has associated with Hollywood blockbusters like the Harry Potter series, Spiderman, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sex and the City and Walking with Dinosaurs, has opened its production unit at the Cyberpark, a release stated.

Some other multimedia and visual effects companies have also showed their interest in setting up a presence at the facility by next year, said Cyberpark CEO R Ajith Kumar.
 

"The entertainment industry is going to be a major employment generator in the coming years and we want to leverage the opportunities in this booming sector. The opening of the production unit of Montura is just a beginning and we will be able to bring in more such firms to the park by next year," he added in the release.

Montura chief executive officer PP Nirshid said it was the second production unit for them in India and the first in Kerala.

The company will set up a modern art unit to provide global working culture for the qualified in Kerala.

The portfolio of Montura VFX includes other Hollywood projects like the Legend of Hercules, Nina, Firestorm, Outcast, Rise of Legend and Dragon Blade.
