CyberMedia Dice Careers Limited, a joint venture between Bangalore-headquartered publishing group, CyberMedia, and Dice, a US-based online recruitment specialist, is ready with its new online 'job board' (website). |
The joint venture, when it was started in September 2004, had planned on migrating the "assets and operations" of CyberMedia's existing job board, CIOL Jobs.com, to the new one, which on Tuesday was announced as CyberMediaDice.com. |
The new board, aimed at the information technology sector, can be used both by recruitment managers and potential recruits, a company release said. It comes with an assessment test, which the joint venture currently offers free to job seekers registering their resumes with it. |
Pradeep Gupta, chairman and managing director of CyberMedia, told reporters here, for the year to March, the market for online recruitment in the country grew 50 per cent to an estimated Rs 70 crore to Rs 90 crore. Half of it came from the technology sector. |
Michael P Durney, a senior vice-president and chief financial officer of Dice Inc, said, "India's rapidly growing technology recruiting sector is behind our decision to start a venture here." CyberMedia Dice Careers Limited was Dice's first venture outside the US, Durney said. |
Dice was in the technology recruitment business for some 14 years now, he said. |
The assessment test, also from a Dice company, MeasureUP, will help potential recruits "highlight their competencies to prospective employers." |
The assessment covers 14 software programming languages, tools and technologies including A+, CCNA, Java, JavaScript, Linux, MCSA, MCSE, Net+, Novell, Oracle, Perl, Visual Basic and VC, the release said. |
Test takers get an hour to answer 30 questions taken randomly from a databank in their chosen competency. Scores are calculated as percentile scores and posted on their resumes on CyberMediaDice.com. |
