Leather is the look that will never age; and for many years there is nothing that can match the comfort level and durability of leather.

Da Milano, a New Delhi-based Italian leather brand, opened its exclusive store on Mall Road, Ludhiana. It is the company's first store of the state and the Da Milano managing director, Sahil Malik, said the next exclusive store would come up at Amritsar in the last quarter of this year. Da Milano has eight exclusive stores in the country--six in New Delhi, one in Gurgaon, and one in Mumbai.

Speaking to Business Standard, Sahil Malik, managing director of Da Milano, said: "Our target audience is the upper middle class and all leather is being imported from Italy. And all our production is done at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. We are delighted to open our store in Ludhiana as it's a growing market and people here are also very fashion-conscious. We have our own design studio in Milan and there we have hired four designers who visit India on a regular basis so that they can keep track of the ongoing fashion trends here."

The store at Ludhiana will display some of the premium range of products like the trendy and colourful handbags crafted out of leather and prints picked from what is vogue in Europe and India this year.

Da Milano, having an annual turnover of Rs 66 crore, offers leather in different colours and prints like the "croco" brand (crocodile), snakes, ostriches and even elephants.

"Our brand caters to the upper crest segment of people who value styling, fashion and product quality and introduce our customers to a complete new range of leather products," said Sahil.
