Bottom line rears up a robust 28%, sales 3.8%

Eighty five companies whose financial year ended on December 31, 2002, have posted a 3.8 per cent growth in sales and a robust 28 per cent rise in net profit.

The eighty five companies reported an aggregate net profit of Rs 3,860 crore for the period in review compared with Rs 3,015 crore in the year to December 31, 2001.

Aggregate sales income edged up to Rs 36,216 crore from Rs 34,882 crore.

The surge in net profits was driven by Albright & Wilson, Burroughs Welcome, Ranbaxy Laboratories and SKF Bearings
