The Indian information technology industry showed a dismal growth rate of 14 per cent during 2001-02, compared with 64 per cent the previous year, to net total revenues of Rs 62,134 crore against Rs 5,456 crore, according to the annual Dataquest survey.
The growth was propelled by the IT-enabled services exports that increased 73 per cent to Rs 7,100 crore as opposed to Rs 4,100 crore in 2000-01, a Dataquest release said here.
Software exports, which grew by 20 per cent to Rs 29,672 crore amidst the economic slowdown and the post September 11 situation, provided a silver-lining to the IT sector.
