DCW Ltd has received the Environment and Forest ministry’s nod for its expansion project to be taken up at the company’s facility in Thoothukudi district, on the southern tip of Tamil Nadu.
With this, it would ramp up its chemical portfolio, which includes expanding trichloroethylene to 15,480 mtpa from 7,200 mtpa and poly vinyl chloride to 150,000 mtpa from 90,000 mtpa. It would also almost double its captive plant power generation capacity at the facility to 108.27 Mw from 58.27 Mw now. This would be achieved by adding 2X25 Mw plant. The expansion project will see an investment of Rs 500 crore.
DCW Ltd (formally Dhrangadhra Chemical Works Limited) is controlled by the Sahu Jain family.
According to the company’s 2012-13 annual report, it has signed a tech licence agreement with Arkema of France for setting up a chlorinated poly vinyl chloride plant at its Sahupuram facility in the state.
