The deadlock in talks between the management of Indo Rama Textiles (IRTL) and the workers' representatives continues, with both parties holding parleys for the second consecutive day on Monday. The talks are now being mediated by the district guardian minister and the state textiles minister, Satish Chaturvedi.

The minister said that he was hopeful of "a positive outcome soon". Trouble broke out at Indo Rama Synthetics' Butibori unit on September 17, after its security chief fired three rounds at workers when a mob ransacked the security block and threatened to force its way inside the premises.

The mob, later torched several vehicles and left a trail of destruction behind. In addition to damaging the main building of the administrative block, computers and office furniture were also damaged. The unit was closed for a week since then resulting in heavy losses daily.

Sources said that the meetings were being held between the non-warring section of workers and the management. The other faction, led by the Shiv Sena, is yet to join the talks. Meanwhile, workers have decided to go on strike from September 28.

Meanwhile, peace returned to the Indo Rama premises at Butibori on Monday. No worker turned up to shout slogans as the talks with management was on at Ravi Bhawan.

It has been learnt that all the gates remained open and movement of people and vehicles went on normally.

Production was also re-started though sources revealed it to be low key.
