Deccan Chargers, the Hyderabad franchisee of the Indian Premier League( IPL), which was terminated by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), has got a fresh breather from the Bombay High Court, till 24 September.
After hearing the counsels of both the parties, Justice S J Kathawala-headed bench of Bombay High Court adjourned the case till next Monday and also asked the BCCI not to take any further action till the next hearing.
The status quo will allow Deccan Charger to study the affidavit filed by the BCCI and prepare its case. Meanwhile, BCCI has been is barred from floating any fresh tender for new IPL team. The Court has also asked the BCCI not to en-cash the amount of Rs 33 crore that Yes Bank gave on behalf of Chargers for players' pending fees.
Earlier, on Saturday, Deccan Chargers' promoters had approached the Mumbai High Court asking for a stay on the termination order. However, after hearing to the both parties, the High Court has placed the matter for hearing today.
