Deccan Chronicle Q2 net down 45% at Rs 45 cr

Deccan Chronicle Holdings, publisher of English dailies Deccan Chronicle and Asian Age, today said its net profit declined by 45.19 per cent to Rs 45.27 crore for the July-September quarter, from the corresponding period a year ago.

The company had reported a net profit of Rs 82.60 crore in the September quarter of 2007, the Hyderabad-based publishing company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Company's total income increased to Rs 241.89 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, from Rs 196.85 crore a year ago.

For the quarter ended September 30, the non-promoter shareholding stood at 39.12 per cent, against 38.91 per cent in the year-ago period.

 

For the half-year ended September 30, the net profit of the company stood at 106.25 crore against Rs 166.35 crore a year ago, the company said adding that net sales for the half- year ended September 30 stood at Rs 419.97 crore against Rs 361.12 crore in the previous year.

The aggregate of non-promoter shareholding this quarter increased by 0.21 per cent to 39.12 per cent.
