Deccan Sugars bags energy award

The sugar division of Nava Bharat Ventures Limited (NBVL), popularly known as Deccan Sugars, has bagged the national award of excellence in Energy Management-2007.
 
The company was selected from around 139 industries from all over India by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
 
During the 2006-07 cane crushing season, the division crushed 5,83,00 tonne. With the bumper sugar production and reduced sugar prices, Deccan Sugars took to conservation of energy, cost reduction and performance improvement, said N Prabhakar, vice-president (sugar division) of NBV, sugar division.
 
NBVL's Sugar division, which has already been certified for Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) is now adopting of 5-S technique of Japanese management system, which includes Seiton (arrangement), Seiri (sorting), Seiso (spic and span), Seikotsu (standardisation), and Shitsuke (self-discipline).
