Deccan Aviation, which operates the low cost carrier Air Deccan, today said it has hiked the cancellation charges by 50 per cent to Rs 750 a ticket from Rs 500 earlier.

Upon cancellation of the ticket, the airline will also deduct a transaction fee amounting to 10 per cent of the basic fare.

The company will refund the money in cash instead of issuing a credit voucher as it did earlier.

The changes are a part of the new cancellation policy that came into effect from Monday, the company said in a press release. "There will be no cancellation charges for an infant," it added.

The airline has also introduced a new rescheduling policy allowing the travellers to reschedule a ticket up to four hours prior to the flight departure. It will charge a flat fee of Rs 750 per person for this purpose.

"We are steadfastly gauging the consumer trends with regard to key commercial initiatives," the release said.
