Leading marine terminal operator DP World today said it has appointed HDFC's Deepak Parekh as a non-executive director of the company with immediate effect.
Parekh is non-executive chairman of mortgage lender HDFC.
DP World in a statement today said that Parekh would be fourth independent director on the company's board.
A chartered accountant by profession, Parekh has been with HDFC for 32 years and has also served as chief executive and executive chairman.
"I am delighted to welcome Deepak Parekh to the DP World board. I have been deeply impressed by Deepak's leadership and vision at the helm of HDFC, transforming the company from a highly successful Housing Finance Institution to a full-service financial institution.
"His experience will lend further strength to our board," DP World's chairman Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said.
Dubai-based DP World, which has 49 marine terminals in different countries, has good presence in India.
