Dell Ventures announce $300 mn fund

This fund expands Dell's $60 million Dell Fluid Data Storage Fund, which was announced last year and is focused on investing in storage start ups

Dell Ventures, the investment arm of personal computer maker Dell, today set up a $300 million 'Strategic Innovation Venture Fund' that will focus on start ups focused on technologies such as storage, cloud computing, big data, data centers, security and mobility.

This fund expands Dell's $60 million Dell Fluid Data Storage Fund, which was announced last year and is focused on investing in storage start ups.

“Dell is committed to bringing the most innovative, affordable and easy to manage technology solutions to our customers. To accomplish this, we will aggressively pursue organic investment in research and development (R&D), acquisitions and venture investing,” Brian Gladden, chief financial officer at Dell said. “The expansion of our venture investing will allow us to stay at the forefront of innovation for our customers, and support the entrepreneurs who are helping shape the future of IT.”
