Desert coolers for the south

'Karnataka an interesting market'

Symphony, an air cooler maker, after establishing itself in north India has now set its eyes south "" on Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It is perhaps a sign of the changing climatic conditions that the company plans to sell its heavy duty desert coolers too in the south.
 
The company launched four new ranges "" Winter, Hi cool, Kaizen and Sumo with prices ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 8,000. With this the company's product portfolio will have eight models.
 
Karnataka is an interesting market for us as it has coastal (hot and humid), north (hot and dry) and south (mixed).
 
"We plan to position 'Winter', a heavy duty desert cooler for north Karnataka districts, 'Kaizen' range for Bangalore, Mysore region where the market is fast growing and for coastal regions 'Hi cool', said D J Parikh, executive director-sales Symphony Comforts.
 
The company plans to close the year (June 2005) with Rs 100 crore turnover as against Rs 75 crore in 2004. It also plans on increasing its marketshare from the current 45 per cent of the Rs 150 crore organised air cooler market to 50 per cent.
