German lender Deutsche Bank today said it expects to report up to 1.4 billion euros profit in the third quarter of 2009, indicating the bank's improving financials.

The entity that has been hit by the global financial meltdown, reported just about 414 million euros profit in the same period a year ago.

Deutsche Bank anticipates tax credits in the September quarter, mainly on account of the impact of tax exemption income and successful resolution of several tax audits related to previous years.

"As a result of these factors, net income is currently estimated of approximately 1.4 billion euros. It is expected that all business segments will report positive results," the bank said in a statement.

The firm would be announcing its third quarter results on October 29. On Tuesday, Deutsche Bank said it has entered into an agreement with the Dutch government to buy parts of ABN Amro's operations in the Netherlands.
