Dewan Hsg profit rises 45%

Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (DHFL), the second-largest housing finance company in the domestic private sector, reported 44.91 per cent y-o-y rise in net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2006.
 
Its profit for the quarter was Rs 13.52 crore compared with Rs 9.32 crore in the previous corresponding quarter. The PBT (profit before tax) stood at Rs 16.82 crore vis-a-vis Rs 11.23 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
 
For the nine months ended December 31, 2006, DHFL posted a net profit of Rs 34.88 crore against Rs 26.47 crore for the same period last year.
 
The company's total income for the quarter under review surged 51 per cent to Rs 89.03 crore, from Rs 58.88 crore registered in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
 
Its loan disbursements grew 24.16 per cent to Rs 1,065.84 crore compared with Rs 858.41 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2005. The board approved the re-appointment of Kapil Wadhawan as the vice-chairman and managing director.
