Gas Authority of India (GAIL) expects work on the Dhabol-Bangalore gas pipeline project to be completed by March 2012, its Chairman and Managing Director B C Tripathi said today.

"The prestigious Rs 5,400 crore project would also lead to generation of about 8,000 Mw of power using gas in Karnataka," he told reporters after calling on Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to brief him on the progress of the work.

The pipeline would pass through 11 districts, ensuring gas supply to consumers, Tripathi said.

Yeddyurappa assured him that the state would render all cooperation to GAIL in completing the project, he said.
