Logistics firm DHL Express (India) today said it will more than double its retail network to around 1,000 in the next 3-5 years, aimed at tapping the growing need across the country.
"Today, we have around 400 retail centres and we aim to increase it to around 1,000 in the next 3-5 years," company's Senior Marketing Director Chandrasekhar Pitre said here.
The retail centres operate as the collection and delivery points for the logistics major, which only caters to and fro services from India.
Pitre said around 40% of the retail chains would be developed by the company itself and the rest by the partnerships or alliances.
Since the company would lease the premises for setting up the retail centres, the investment for expansions would not be much, he added.
The number of retail chains would be increased to 500 in a year, he said.
The current size of the logistics sector to and fro India would be around 400 million euro, he said, adding the growth of the sector was now coming from various Tier-I and Tier-II cities as well.
