Directors prefer parting chairman-CEO roles |

Most company directors in India believe that separating the chairman from the post of CEO is an effective method of increasing the effectiveness of a board. As many as 75 per cent of directors interviewed from more than 100 companies, believe that having separate individuals in the two roles helps improve corporate governance. A recent joint study by management consultancy AT Kearney, legal advisory firm AZB & Partners and Hunt Partners, a talent management company, on the state of corporate boards also found that only 39 per cent of the companies had a formal evaluation procedure for the board members.
