Non-fiction media company Discovery Communications is planning to launch 24-hour parallel feed of its Discovery Science channel in regional languages soon, said Rahul Johri, senior VP and general manager (India), Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific).
“Right now, the channel is in the introductory stage. We have done extensive research ... the work is on,” he told mediapersons here on Thursday. Johri, however, refused to draw any time line for the regional feed launch. Discovery Science is available in English reaching out to over 14 million households in India.
Stating that the proposed introduction of the regional language feed was aimed at increasing the channel’s affinity with it audience, he said the company was evaluating options to incorporate local content. “We expect localised content to be in place sooner than later,” he added.
