Country's largest DTH player Dish TV today lowered its consolidated net loss to Rs 262.2 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2010.

This is against a net loss of Rs 480.7 crore in the same quarter last year.

During the quarter, the total income stood at Rs 1,084.99 crore, as against Rs 738.10 crore in the same quarter last year.

"In a strong six player market, incremental share over and above a secular number is laudable. Dish TV with an incremental market share of 27 per cent continues to deliver industry leading performance," Dish TV Chairman Subhash Chandra said in a statement.

With 2.8 million subscribers added in the second quarter, the overall market for DTH in the country has already grown to more than 26 million households," he added.

"While ARPUs in India remain significantly under-priced compared to similar economies in the world, there exists substantial headroom for growth," Chandra said.

Dish TV added 0.76 million new subscribers during Q2 FY'11, taking its gross subscriber base to 8.3 million subscribers.

The company has maintained an average revenue per user (ARPU) at Rs 139 per month, while subscriber acquisition cost (SAC) for the quarter stood at Rs 2,083.
