Dish TV narrows Q4 loss to Rs 60 cr

Direct-to-home (DTH) operator Dish TV today said it has posted a net loss of Rs 59.77 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2010, narrowing down from its loss of Rs 78.66 crore during the year-ago period.

Its total income stood at Rs 303.14 crore during the quarter ended March 31, 2010, as against Rs 207.13 crore during the same period last year, Dish TV said in a statement.

"An innovative business approach with an eye on operational efficiencies has resulted in Dish TV delivering encouraging numbers and the company crossing the Rs 10,000- crore mark in revenues this year," Dish TV Chairman Subhash Chandra said.

 

For the year ended March 31, 2010, the company posted a net loss of Rs 261.33 crore, while it had a loss of Rs 476.27 crore during the previous fiscal.
    
Dish TV added 1.8 million new subscribers during FY'10, taking its gross subscriber base to 6.9 million.
    
Its net subscriber base as on March 31, 2010, stood at 5.7 million, the statement said adding that its total market share stood at over 33 per cent in a six-operator market.
    
"Dish TV would continue to focus on increase in ARPU, value-added services, commercial sales (e.G hotels, restaurants, pubs, clubs, malls etc), brand building and penetration, service capability ramp up resulting in value creation for the stakeholders," it said.
