BS Reporter Mumbai
Direct-to-home operator Dish TV India reduced its net loss to Rs 2.9 crore in the December quarter from Rs 38.25 crore in the same quarter last year.

The company's standalone subscription and total operating revenues were Rs 655.4 crore (up 17.4 per cent year-on-year) and Rs 713.9 crore (up, 16.5 per cent Y-o-Y), respectively.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) for the quarter stood at Rs 191.2 crore compared to Rs 135.5 crore in the corresponding quarter last financial year.

The company added 416,000 net subscribers (through Dish TV and the region-focussed brand, Zing), taking its total net subscriber base to 12.5 million. The churn for the quarter was at 0.7 per cent.

Company's chief operating officer Salil Kapoor said the reduction in loss had been a result of the company's effort to control costs and increase subscription revenues through aggressive packaging and marketing.
