Diversified interests in different segments have helped the Godrej & Boyce tide over the economic slowdown, said a top official of the company.

"We are in many different businesses. Some businesses are doing quite well, especially the FMCG business, because there is a good demand," Godrej & Boyce (G&B) Managing Director Jamshyd Godrej told reporters here on the sidelines of the CII Annual Session here.

However, some segments like housing are under stress and so it is a mixed bag, he added.

He said the company has been able to pass on some of the benefits like reduced excise duty to the consumers with the commodity prices coming down.

When asked about its investment plans, Godrej said, "I think all capital expenditures which make sense in a short-term are continuing. All others, which have large capex and are not immediately related to current production issues, will have a problem."

Godrej said the company expected to close the year with a better results as compared to the last quarter.

"The fourth quarter is normally better than the third quarter-wise. We will have a slightly better result because that is a normal standard way."
