DLF awards $250 mn contract to Leighton Welspun Contractors

Contract for building its project in Gurgaon

Major real estate player DLF has awarded a $250 million contract to Leighton Welspun Contractors, part of the Leighton Asia, India and Offshore Group for building its super luxury residential development ‘The Camellias’ in Gurgaon.
 
The project will be designed in the latest 5D computer modeling which will enable fast construction via the use of precast, post tensioning and off-site prefabrication of the mechanical services and finishing elements.
 
The construction, which will involve a combination of RCC framed structure, post-tensioned slabs and external GRC structures, will commence in the third quarter of 2013 and will be completed by third quarter of 2017 (46 months).
 
 
The Camellias will be spread over an area of 16.154 acres, with a tentative built up area of about 4.5 million sq ft. It will have 429 apartments, including 14 penthouses, a company statement said.
 
Both the companies have also committed to work towards labour welfare via a state of art labor camp which will house 3000 workers complete with medical clinic staffed with a full time doctor and ambulance, a canteen amongst others. The workers on their days off will also get to enjoy outdoor cinema and arranged sporting activities.
