Doshion Veolia Water Solutions private limited, a joint venture between Doshion Limited of Ahmedabad and Veolia Water Solutions of France has acquired Nagpur based Gondwana Engineers Ltd (GEL) which is a group company of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd (KBL) for around Rs 50 crore.
Doshion Veolia, which already has a strong presence in the industrial segment, aims to strengthen its presence in the city water management segment through the acquisition of GEL. "We have forayed into the city water management segment last year, and we are hoping that this acquisition will help us strengthen our market penetration in the segment.", informed Bhavesh Upadhyay, president, group human resources, Doshion Ltd.
GEL is a water solutions company which specialises in the business of engineering, procurement and construction of water & wastewater treatment plants, water retention and water supply structures on a turn-key basis.
The company focuses primarily on municipal and government sector contracts and its key customers include state water supply & sewage boards, metro water authorities and municipal corporations across cities.
Ashit Doshi, managing director, Doshion Group said, "The acquisition of GEL, will strengthen the capability of Doshion Veolia Water Solutions, as a whole, especially in municipal & government sectors and will establish the group as a leader in water business across India."
While Doshion Group's net turnover for 2010-11 is likely to touch Rs 1,000 crore, Doshion Veolia is estimated to register revenues worth Rs 600 crore for the 2010-11 fiscal, Upadhyay informed.
KBL, a leading pump manufacturer in the country had acquired GEL in 2007 for Rs 7.6 crore.
While KBL is primarily a manufacturer of pumps and pumping systems, it is also getting established as a water solutions company. It is catering to the industry through a few business sectors such as irrigation, power, water resource management, oil & gas industry and so on. Through water resource Management Sector, KBL would continue to cater the requirements of water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants in future.
Apart from the said acquisition, Doshion Group is fast emerging as a ‘one Point total water solutions provider’ in water & waste-water management services, covering water generation, purification, transmission and distribution activities in India, while catering to diverse industrial and municipal sectors including community water supplies through its existing associate companies such as Doshion Limited and Pacific Pipe Systems Private Limited.
