DP World-operated Mundra International Container Terminal (MICT) has achieved a record productivity of 49.5 moves per crane per hour while handling the Maersk Line vessel MV Seroja Lima.

"The latest achievement of 49.5 crane moves per hour exceeded the terminal's earlier productivity record of 48.97 moves per crane per hour which was set in August 2014," the company said in a statement.

Also DP World Mundra achieved a berth productivity rate of 180 moves per hour at the main berth.

Chief Executive Officer, DP World Mundra, Sumesh Padmanabhan said, "We will continue zealously to keep this momentum going to drive new business and establish strategic partnerships with our clients."

The company said MICT's strategic location, hinterland connectivity and on-dock rail facilities have been attractive to the shipping lines globally.

Container handling is DP World's core business and generates more than three quarters of its revenue. In 2015, DP World handled 61.7 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units).

It said with its committed pipeline of developments and expansions, the current gross capacity of 79.6 million TEU is expected to rise to more than 100 million TEU by 2020, in line with market demand.
