DQ Entertainment (International) Limited, a Hyderabad-based animation, gaming and entertainment company, has signed an agreement with German television broadcaster ZDF Enterprises for a new 3D stereoscopic high-definition television series -- 5&IT.

As per the agreement, ZDF will act as a distributor for the '5&IT' TV series, being produced at a global budget of euro 9.2 million (approximately Rs 60 crore). The German company will hold the distribution rights in 64 countries, including western and eastern Europe (excluding French-speaking Europe, UK and Ireland), South Africa and Latin America.

Based on the famous book by Edith Nesbit written in the early part of the last century, '5&IT' series follows the adventures and escapades of five children after they unearth and befriend a bizarre little sand fairy -- a Psammead The IT -- by their uncle's beachfront mansion.

The Psammead is an ancient, ugly and irritable sand fairy the children find in a gravel pit. It grants them a wish a day, lasting until sunset. But they soon learn it is very hard to think of really sensible wishes, and each one gets them into unexpected difficulties, DQE said in a filing to the BSE on Tuesday.
