Dr Reddy's launches high blood pressure tablets in US market

The Metoprolol Succinate tablets are generic version of AstraZeneca's Toprol-XL tablets

Drug firm Dr Reddy's Laboratories today said it has launched Metoprolol Succinate tablets used for treating high blood pressure in the American market.

The company has launched Metoprolol Succinate extended- release tablets in the strengths of 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg and 200 mg in the US market, Dr Reddy's Laboratories said in a statement.

The Metoprolol Succinate tablets are generic version of AstraZeneca's Toprol-XL tablets, it added.

According to IMS Health data, Toprol-XL and its generics had sales of nearly $1.13 billion in the US for the 12- month period ending June, 2012, Dr Reddy's said.

The company's tablets in all the strengths are available in bottle counts of 100 and 500, it added.

Metoprolol Succinate extended release tablets of the company were approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) in August this year.

Shares of Dr Reddy's Laboratories today closed at Rs 1,727 on the BSE, up 0.71 per cent from their previous close.
