Dr Reddy's launches osteoporosis tablets in US

Company launched 150 mg tablets on June 29 after receiving the approval of the US

Dr Reddy's Laboratories today said it has launched generic tablets used for treating post- menopausal osteoporosis in the American market.

The company launched 150 mg tablets on June 29 after receiving the approval for its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) by the US Food and Drug Administration, Dr Reddy's said.

The Ibandronate Sodium tablets are bio equivalent generic version of Roche Therapeutics Inc's Boniva tablets.

The Boniva brand and generic had sales of nearly $486 million in the US during the twelve months ending March 2012, the company said, quoting IMS health data.

"The tablets are available in the cartons of three blister packs containing 1 tablet each," Dr Reddy's said.

Shares of Dr Reddy's Laboratories were trading at Rs 1,642 per scrip in the afternoon trade on BSE, down 0.44% from its previous close.
