Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical major Dr Reddy's Laboratories (DRL) released its 2007 sustainability report  that highlights the company's efforts in uniting economic, environmental and social objectives.

Releasing the report, G V Prasad, vice-chairman and chief executive officer, DRL, said the company had adopted the triple bottom line approach to sustainability thinking, which involved creating multiple sustainability opportunities for the society, environment and economy.

Stating that social responsibility was an integral part of DRL, Prasad said the company had so far created livelihoods for one lakh people, and its goal was to create livelihoods for one million people.

DRL is most likely the first pharmaceutical company in India to have initiated the process of issuing the sustainability report.
