Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical major, Dr Reddy's Laboratories (DRL), has released its 2007 sustainability report that highlights the company's efforts in uniting economic, environmental and social objectives. |
Releasing the report, DRL's vice-chairman and chief executive officer, G V Prasad, said the company had adopted the triple bottom line approach to sustainability thinking, which involved creating multiple sustainability opportunities to society, environment and economy as a whole. |
Stating that social responsibility was an integral part of DRL, Prasad said the company had so far created livelihoods to 1 lakh people and its goal was to create livelihoods to 1 million people. |
Companies coming out with such sustainability reports is an initiative that originated in Europe. DRL is stated to be the first pharmaceutical company in India to have initiated this process. |
