Dr Reddy's releases sustainability report

Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical major, Dr Reddy's Laboratories (DRL), has released its 2007 sustainability report that highlights the company's efforts in uniting economic, environmental and social objectives.
 
Releasing the report, DRL's vice-chairman and chief executive officer, G V Prasad, said the company had adopted the triple bottom line approach to sustainability thinking, which involved creating multiple sustainability opportunities to society, environment and economy as a whole.
 
Stating that social responsibility was an integral part of DRL, Prasad said the company had so far created livelihoods to 1 lakh people and its goal was to create livelihoods to 1 million people.
 
Companies coming out with such sustainability reports is an initiative that originated in Europe. DRL is stated to be the first pharmaceutical company in India to have initiated this process.
