DSK Motowheels Private Limited, a part of Maharashtra-based, Rs 4,000-crore diversified DSK Group, is targeting to achieve a sales turnover of Rs 100 crore from its newly-launched ‘Hyosung’ bikes in India.
“We are targeting to sell 3,780 units (across three varieties 250-cc, 650-cc and 700-cc) in India by March 2013,” Shirish Kulkarni, director, DSK Motowheels, told reporters after launching the bikes series in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The 250-cc bike is priced at Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Hyderabad), while the other two models are priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 7 lakh.
DSK has recently acquired the motorcycle business of Garware Motors Limited, which was the technical partner for Science and Technology (S&T) Motors, the South Korean owner of the Hyosung brand of motorcycles. Garware Motors was responsible for assembling, marketing and selling the bikes in the Indian market.
For the time being, DSK Motowheels will import engines from Korea and assemble them in India. The company also has plans to set up a Rs 300-crore manufacturing unit in the next two years.
Kulkarni said, “We are scouting for a location in Maharashtra, besides looking at options in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Goa. However, nothing has been finalised yet.”
