Ducati, an Italian motorcycle manufacturer, is gearing up to launch the Multistrada 1260 and Multistrada 1260 S in India on June 19. The 2018 Multistrada 1260 will replace the existing Multistrada 1200 motorbike, which is currently available in India at a starting price of Rs 1.53 million (ex-showroom). The 1260 model gets a slightly bigger engine, reworked chassis and tons of new features in comparison with the 1200 model.
The bike’s semi-faired design features sleek surface with flowing design and volume difference between the front and rear. While the bike characteristics remain largely the same as that of the Multistrada 1200, some of the changes such as 48mm longer wheelbase and improved steering rake from 24 degree to 25 degree defines the new characteristics of the Multistrada 1260.
The bike is powered by 1260cc DVT Testastretta engine that produces 160PS of peak power at 9,500rpm and 129.4Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. The twin-cylinder motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox and combines variable timing with desmo valve actuation, which helps bike get optimum combination of power and torque at low-rpm.
The bike gets new side panels and redesigned alloy wheels. The Multistrada 1260 variant features a LCD screen, which doubles as instrumental cluster, whereas the S model comes loaded with a colour screen TFT panel. Along with existing electronic driving modes, the 1260 model will also get a new ride-by-wire electronic throttle system, an eight-level Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, and Cruise control.
The Ducati Multistrada 1260 will be imported to India from Thailand as completely build-up unit. Therefore, the price is expected to be around Rs 1.7 million (ex-showroom) for the standard model and Rs 1.9 million (ex-showroom) for the Multistrada 1260 S model.
