Ducati India has opened its first dealership in Pune. The Indian arm of the Italian super bike manufacturer, currently has dealerships in Gurgaon, Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
"Our priority is to set-up dealerships across India along with fully equipped service facilities. We plan to open another two dealerships later this year. We are yet to zero down on the two locations for the same. We are evaluating the priority markets based on demand for our motorcycles," said Ravi Avalur, managing director, Ducati India.
Ducati India sources motorcycles from its Thailand plant. Worldwide Ducati has only three manufacturing plants located in Italy, Thailand and Brazil. The total India market for super bikes is of 4,500 units per year and growing at 45% every year. According to industry experts, the demand for super bikes in India is growing and by 2020 and will go up to 16,000-18,000 units per year.

Ducati's range of motorcycles include Monster family (Monster 821), the Hypermotard and Hyperstrada models of the Diavel family and the 899, 1299, 1299 S and Panigale R. Last year, it had also launched the Scrambler Icon, the Scrambler Classic and Full Throttle. The prices of respective bikes start at Rs 6.83 lakh to Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). In super bike segment, Ducati will compete with Harley-Davidson Triumph, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, Benelli, BMW Motorrad and MV Agusta.
The Italian bikemaker will also organise a roadshow, showcasing its products in different parts of the country. Last year, the company opened the largest Ducati Store in the world in New Delhi.
