E-workflow firm Thomson opens Hyd'bad centre

US-based Thomson Corporation, a leading provider of electronic workflow solutions, has opened its global service delivery centre at Hyderabad. The service centre will support Thomson's global operations across the areas of research, finance, accounting, technology and customer support.

Starting with 50 employees, the workforce of the multi-functional service centre will be expanded to about 1,000 by 2009, Pradeep Lankapalli, head of the Hyderabad centre & VP (shared services) at Thomson, said here today.

Thomson commenced its operations in India in 1994 by establishing a centre at Bangalore. It currently has 2,200 employees in the Bangalore facility, which provides product development, content and software technology to meet the needs of the company's global customer base. In 2005, Thomson's global revenues stood at $8.52 billion.
