ECoR net up 17% to Rs 5,482.62 cr in FY08

Despite disruption on the revenue generating Kirandul-Kotavalasa line, ECoR's overall freight traffic in 2007-08 stood at 93.19 million tonne, a 10.96 per cent rise over 83.92 milion tonne handled in the previous fiscal.

Passenger traffic increased from 51.20 million in 2006-07 to 58.15 million in 2007-08, thereby posting a growth of 16.51 per cent.

 

In 2007-08, a new loading point was commissioned at Lapanga and loading at Paradip port reached 1,066 FWUs (four wheeler units) per day, exceeding the previous best figure of 812 FWUs per day.

KC Jena, the chairman of Railway Board has lauded the staff and officers of ECoR for the all round excellent performance in 2007-08.

ECoR's freight loading target for 2008-09 has been set at 850 million tonne which may be enhanced to 900 million tonne.

25 tonne axle load wagons have been introduced on ECoR and safety measures have been improved through closure of 37 level crossings.
