Edible oil imports zoom 67% in Dec to 3.6 lakh tn

Edible oil imports  zoomed 67% to 3,67,388 tonne in December 2006 from 2,20,068 tonne in the same month last year, according to data released by Solvent Extraction Association (SEA).

Edible oil imports for the two month period November- December 2006
totalled 6,19,630 tonne, up 13% from 5,47,653 tonne in the comparative period last year.

Non-edible imports, however, declined marginally to 1,22,682 tonne in the period under consideration from 1,23,694 tonne in the same period last year.
