City-based Efftronics Systems Private Limited (Efftronics), a software-cum-electronics firm is targeting a 60 per cent growth this fiscal. The company clocked revenues of Rs 10.8 crore for the year ended March 31, 2004 as compared to Rs 6.5 crore in 2002-03.

The small company has a veritable who's who of the Indian corporate as clients.

Major clients for the company's unique products in the country include the Indian Railways (which uses its display systems and data loggers), Tata Iron and Steel Co, Ford India, Bombay Stock Exchange, Fremantile Television Productions, Hero Honda India Ltd, Bharatiya Vigyan Bhavan, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Whirlpool Ltd and Usha Martin Industries.

The company has a monopoly over products that include data logger, battery-monitoring unit, display systems, GPS, fuel-filling automation unit and supervisory central acquisition of data (Scada) system.

Speaking to Business Standard, Dasari Ramakrishna, managing director of Efftronics, said that the company was targeting a growth of about 60 per cent this fiscal.

"Actually, we are striving to achieve a 100 per cent growth rate as early as possible. We are determined to bring out an altogether new and world class product in the next five years,"he said.

"Products of Efftronics do not have competitors in the national market today. If any competition does emerge for a particular product, the company immediately stops production of the existing model and comes up with a newer version of product. This is possible as the technology we use is developed ground up at our company and we do not depend on any outside agency. Also, the client does not have to go to different places for his various requirements. Efftronics' success has been because of its ability to cater to all the requirements of the client under a single roof," Ramakrishna said.

"We were the first to develop electronic moving display system in the country. Now, we sell about 40 display specialties to our clients. This system has been approved by the Railway Design Standard Organisation (RDSO) and used by the Indian Railways all over the country. We are also developing remote panel control system and solid state block instruments system for the Indian Railways. The latter system despatches trains from one station to another station automatically. The technology is in the final stages of verification," Ramakrishna said.

Products of Efftronics are also exported to Finland (Solar Film Inc OY), Mexico (Grupa Televisa), Turkey (Fremantle International), Switzerland (Software Engineering Sinha Will), Malaysia (Natseven TC Sdn Bhd), Sweden (Sveriges Television), Sri Lanka (Chrisline), Saudi Arabia (AI-EID), Indonesia (Pearson Television Asia), Venezuela, South Africa, Bulgaria, Belgium and Philippines.

"We are at present exploring export possibilities to Germany also," Ramakrishna said, adding, "As the euro grows stronger day after day, it is better if Indian entrepreneurs do business with European countries. Huge export opportunities await them."

The homeopathic computer developed by efftronics was well received by doctors. The computer prescribes drug specifications on feeding sickness symptoms. The fuel-filling unit fills vehicle tanks with petrol automatically.

The data logger, used by the railways, ensures event logging of status inputs, analog inputs (1 second), tele controls, exception warning, speed warning, real time or replay of track mimic, train charting, predictive maintenance, analysis and reports.

The battery monitoring unit consists of automated battery testing and data logging, exception warning, alarms, triggered controls, interface to rectifier unit, and networking of units.

"The battery-monitoring unit is successfully used by the Malaysian Telecom," he said.

Stock exchange software works out terminals for scrip transaction entry, unix server, stock settlement at week ends, data exchange and information displays.

The display systems offer true colour, multicolour and multilingual graphics and information displays, TV game shows and master slave clocks, efftronics vendors a GPS system, which provides destination arrival indicator in vehicles, their tracking and fleet management. The supervisory central acquisition of data (Scada) offers remote and supervisory control of fields and data acquisition.
