Eicher Motors first quarter net up 17% to Rs 7 cr
 
Eicher Motors has reported a 17 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 7.13 crore for the first quarter ended June 2004, compared with Rs 6.08 crore in the corresponding period last year.
 
Gross sales increased 28 per cent to Rs 222.36 crore (Rs 173.80 crore). The company sold 3,657 (3,059) commercial vehicles in the first quarter.
 
EIH first quarter loss up at Rs 4.69 cr
 
EIH has posted a net loss of Rs 4.69 crore for the quarter ended 30 June 2004 as compared with a net loss of Rs 3.25 crore for the quarter ended 30 June 2003. Total income increased to Rs 121.58 crore (Rs 102.27 crore).
 
Finolex Cables Q1 net drops 30% to Rs 6.8 cr
 
Finolex Cables has recorded a 30 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 6.79 crore for the first quarter ended June 2004 compared with Rs 9.79 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Net sales were up 19.3 per cent to Rs 133.23 crore (Rs 111.65 crore).
 
DK Chhabria, managing director, FCL, said: 'Copper prices on the London Metal Exchange have settled, creating stability in sales of electrical wires. Communication cables performance has improved. The profitability has been impacted due to external factors."
 
VIP Inds Q1 net up 58% to Rs 5 cr
 
VIP Industries, the country's leading luggage maker, posted 58 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 5.08 crore for the first quarter ended June 2004 compared with Rs 3.20 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Turnover edged up to Rs 91.41 crore (Rs 91.05 crore).
