Eicher Motors fourth quarter (ended March 31, 2008) net profit slid by about 6.7 per cent to Rs 19.5 crore compared with Rs 20.9 crore recorded in the comparative period last year.

Total income (net of excise) for the fourth quarter grew by about 6 per cent to Rs 662.9 crore (Rs 626.1 crore).

 

Profit before tax stood at Rs 25.2 crore, down by 16.3 per cent, from Rs 30.1 crore it made in Q4 FY07.

The Delhi-based auto major, whose product portfolio spans from the iconic Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle to Eicher heavy vehicles, witnessed a drop of 12.8 per cent in its operating profit to Rs 39.6 crore (Rs 45.4 crore).

"The slowdown in the pace of growth of the Indian CV industry was most evident in the fourth quarter. In this quarter, our operating margin and EBITDA declined due to commodity price increases and a temporary IR-related setback at our components business," said Siddhartha LaL, managing director & CEO, Eicher Motors.

According to Eicher Motors, the company has maintained its market share in the 5-12 tonne domestic cargo segment for FY08, and has launched new variants of its buses.
